Just want to relax with other people while painting the day away? Join us each Tuesday during the term and get involved in creating beautiful artwork and enjoying a nice lunch. Bring along your paints and canvases. Any children attending with you are your responsibility.

This new and exciting initiative where Aboriginal men gather to share stories, experiences, skills and talents. Exclusively for Aboriginal men it offers creativity, cultural, social and emotional well being in a safe non-judgmental environment. The men look forward to increasing their membership so come along and be a part of this exciting program.

Moorditj Moort Outreach Service

Description:

Moorditj Moort (Strong Family) Outreach Service working out of Langford Aboriginal Association is a new program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples who live in Langford, Gosnells and surrounding suburbs. The Moorditj Moort Outreach Team will work in partnership with other service providers to ensure Aboriginal community members with Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) concerns receive the best possible support for recovery and wellness. The team will provide advocacy, transportation (to and from appointments) and appropriate client referrals. It is our aim to assist Aboriginal community members and their families to access culturally appropriate assistance in their recovery journey.

My Time
My Time

Description:

This program is for parents and carers of Aboriginal children aged 0—17 years old that live in and around the Langford area. My Time is the perfect ‘playgroup’ for you and children. It is not only about the kids having their own play and development time, but parents also are involved in education, arts and crafts, and playtime with their children. A crèche is available for children aged 0—5 only and a delicious meal is provided for everyone. Come and meet other parents and share, support and strengthen the knowledge you already have. This program is sponsored by Ngala. Make time for yourself!

Langford Aboriginal Association (LAA) in partnership with Relationships Australia WA are pleased to provide this FREE program that assists you to develop the skills and knowledge to become stronger and empower yourself. The program will increase cultural, social and emotional wellbeing of individuals, families and the community. The program includes topics such as: • Your story relating to family, culture, history and developing self-esteem and positive ways of living. • Discussing family structures within the understanding of Stolen Generation, intergenerational trauma, lateral violence and the role of Aboriginal parents and their children today. • Developing personal skills that relate to stress, problem solving, managing conflict and healthy relationships. • Celebrating Aboriginal achievements and looking at the history of Aboriginal people from a community and national level, exploring the concept of self-determination and what it means to be a good community leader. The program will be held weekly during the day. Please Note: The program is for Aboriginal men and women from 18 years of age.

Noongar Language

Come along, have fun and learn our wonderful Noongar Language! This 9 week program is available to all Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community members with 2 levels available depending on your current language levels. Children wanting to learn the language are welcome to attend with an adult. You can only join these classes within the first 2 weeks of the delivery start date.
